Goddard Park

Saturday morning practice at Goddard Park is usually the most popular summer practice.  For the first practice in this location this summer NK showed up in large numbers.

After practice the Karaoke machine came out and we finally got some takers.

Thursday Night At Narragansett Beach

The weather cleared up just in time for a spectacular run from Narragansett Beach.  For some reason there has never been a post on the blog from this run.  As usual something unusual happened at the run tonight.  It's a good thing that the kids left the beach area just after the warm up

A series of good group shots

Lila and Izzie having fun.

The famous c-skips.

Jordan is looking over to the ocean and spots the great Godzilla rising from the deep.  He will soon warn the group that they will have to seek safety along the running route.

With Godzilla safely gone the kids gather for some more group shots.

Just the girls in this one.

Wednesday Night At The URI Fun Run

The YMCA of South County sponsors a fun run each Wednesday night over the summer months at URI.

Over the past few weeks it's been quiet there up until tonight.  The NK team showed up with good numbers on this warm summer evening.

Photos were taken during the warm up and the 1 mile fun run.  Once again we had a guest join in.  This time during dynamics.

The guys are getting ready to role before the 1 mile warm up.

The girls also get ready in a different location.

Abby and Izzie laugh as Chewbacca passes through.  This is the second day in a row with a Star Wars character.  Who knew this would happen?  The kids seem unfazed.

The guys get after it during the warm up run.  We were fortunate to have alumni Robbie Rocchio join the group as well as Kelsey Spitalnic.

Back To The Desert!!!!!!!

It's been a while since NKXC could be seen in the desert but some of the athletes commented that it feels just like yesterday that they were there surging the dunes.

Today the group ran only 30 minutes but those of us who have trained there know that 30 minutes at this location is worth far more than anywhere else.  Next week's goal will be to kick it up to 40 minutes.

Below you'll see some of the NK at work.  You never know what you're going to see in the desert.  We got a rare visit from some familiar friends from the movies.  I didn't know they were actually real!

Mr. Warner after a hard workout.

Ethan Wylie and Moose putting in some extra minutes.

This was the surprise of the day.  Not only did these famous characters make a visit but they also claimed to be new Freshman who will run for the team.  One of them even spoke Bocce.

New recruit Mike Spellman joins the group after the workout.

Bethany provided some good jams as tune master.

NKXC first practice for the 2014 season

The first practice went well in beautiful Jamestown, RI with sunny weather, temperatures in the 70's, and a slight breeze from an unknown direction.

Old music filled the air as the team got acquainted once again.  There was a lot of talk amongst the team of team and individual goals with a quiet understanding of what needed to be done to obtain those challenges.

Here we see the group assembled before the run on the famous grounds of Fort Wetherill.

            NXN - Northeast Regional Meet

The girls finished off the 2013 cross country season with a trip to Wappinger Falls, New York to compete in Nike's Northeast Regional Open Race.

They pulled off an impressive victory taking first place amongst the 26 teams in the race.

The day before the last day of practice Bethany and Lila Square off in a battle over something in the NK parking lot.
I'm not sure they know even know what it was about?
